Los Angeles based Producer TAKE has been making waves in the Hip Hop and Electronic music communities for the past several years. For those not familiar with his sound, the 29 year old multi-instrumentalist crafts deeply layered, hard hitting yet melodic instrumental beats. The emphasis here is on songs. TAKE’S compositions are far more structured than your average 4 bar looped Hip Hop instrumentals. His combination of slumped out drum beats, detailed atmospheres and melodic cinematic qualities blur the lines that define genre. Call it Hip Hop, Electronic, or Experimental. Either way its music that will leave you thinking.
TAKE has received excellent reviews in XLR8R, URB, METRO POP, TOKIN, FADER, VICE, BPM, WAX POETICS, and RE-UP Magazines as well as spots in countless local papers and online sites. He was chosen as one of URB magazines’ NEXT 100 Artists of 2005 and traveled to the SXSW festival to perform and do DJ showcases. TAKE has done DJ sets all over the United States and shared the bill with the likes of MOS DEF, PREFUSE 73, GZA, DAEDELUS, CAURAL, DJ NOBODY, AMMON CONTACT, EDIT, and NAUTILIS.
2007 is shaping up to be a busy year with releases slated on Inner Current Records, Swedish Brandy Records, and AstroLabs. Currently, TAKE is putting the final touches on his first full length LP. Look for a spring release of this record, it’s been in the works for over a year and won’t disappoint! A tour will follow with shows in the USA, Europe, and Japan.
